Tranquility Farm & Main Street Marketplace and Meeting Place
Tranquility Farm
Tranquility Farm was founded as a muscadine vineyard in 2008 by David and Crystal Allen. It is the latest chapter in the NCDA Certified Century Farm which has been in the Karriker, Bost and Allen families for over one hundred years. Tranquility Farm grows muscadine grapes and blackberries which are sold at Farmers Markets and in Farm Store at Tranquility Farm. Their grapes are also supplied to a local winery for wine production. They have 416 vines and on average sell over three tons of grape annually. All of their annual pruning and harvesting is done by hand by family and friends. They also have over a hundred producing blackberry plants which produce high quality blackberries. They keep bees on their farm, which allows them to produce and sell local honey. They do not use pesticides in their vineyard, on their berries and in their gardens, as they are protectors of the pollinators. In 2016 Stephanie, David & Crystal met at NC Farm School. Their friendship began, and it would find them selling side by side at the China Grove Farmer’s Market and then David and Crystal carrying Hopeful Acres Farm beef in their farm store. You can purchase their products as well as Hopeful Acres Farm beef in their farm store. You can drop by when their store is open on Saturdays to choose from the beef on site or place a special order to be picked up at their store. They are located at 11255 Unity Church Road in Mooresville.
Main Street Marketplace and Meeting Place
Main Street Marketplace is a community fresh market, providing affordable groceries on a sliding scale to allow everyone in our community access to healthy foods. By shopping at Main Street Marketplace, you are sustaining local growers and makers, contributing to a healthier food system, stimulating our local economy, and creating new job opportunities for individuals in our community. In 2021 Main Street Marketplace started carrying Hopeful Acres Farm Beef. By selling together at the China Grove Farmer’s Market a friendship and partnership grew. In 2022, a change in Stephanie’s full time job off the farm meant that she would not be able to be a vendor at the China Grove Farmers’ Market. Main Street Marketplace had sold Hopeful Acres Farm blooms in 2021 for a holiday weekend, but now there was an opportunity for them to sell them full time during the growing season. The community and farmers are very fortunate to have Main Street Marketplace to support them. “We are honored and humbled to be able to have our beef and blooms in their Marketplace”! They are located at 306 S. Main Street, China Grove.
